To One Voice: I don't even know what you are talking about.

To Jim: I understand where you are coming from now. That would make more sense that the effective rate is in the .31 range. If the .16 rate were correct, you would have to look at the new debt the city has to get the total rate in the .32 range. It sounds like there may have been a typo on the notice. I can't imagine it would be done on purpose as it would generate this kind of outrage. Nevertheless, I do not think a mistake on the effective rate would require a re-publish and reschedule of the meeting. The main thing the LGC looks at requiring such re-notice would be if the total tax rate was listed incorrectly. A municipal attorney could probably comment on that better than I. At any rate, I apologize if I missed your point in the article, it simply sounded to me as if you were saying the tax rate is doubling, when in actuality its not.
