I'm new to Texas, my wife and I just moved in from Chicago. We felt as if the Lord was calling us to move away from the hustle and bustle of the city and the suburbs to slow down and put things in prespective. Mainly God and family, its just been such a great feeling of relief to be able to talk about God openly without the room going silent and only hearing crikets chirping. The apostle Paul talks about preaching the gospel while in chains. (for which i am an ambassador in chains. Pray that i may declare it fearlessly, as i should. Ephesians 6:20) Which i hope to do so conserning the article "MORE THAN HAVING IT ALL" In this story the problem of not having enough is talked about, the problem of selfish ambitions and desires. These are chains of bondage that consumes americans today. When is having enough not enough? When did it all go wrong? When did the chains of persecution get applied by our own selves? Maybe just maybe when we started worrying about peoples rights(RIGHTS really meaning our WANTS to justify our behavor.)being stripped away as opposed to us stripping God away from our so called rights on a national level. Before i continue i not saying that it is ok to take away our rights, but what im saying is when did our fight to have our rights turn into a fight to just do what ever i want and slap a label on it that reads RIGHTS. All that is really called is self justicifaction for ones wrong doings, also known to believers of Christ as...SIN. Well going back to the maybe theory, just maybe our wants as opposed to our needs is whats destroying us, just like the story mentioned in this article. We work to live, but at what point does working to live turn into living to work? When we've spent to much time effort in resources on our belongs that in order to keep up on our basic needs we have to work more, are possessions end up owning us or as i said before, a type of new age bondage. Dieing and leaving no mark or positive impact on your loved ones, just debt to burden to the next generation is becoming all to common. Then there are those who are alive, whos debt keeps them from becoming closer to there wife, kids or loved ones because of the never ending bills. The question we as a people really have to ask our selves is what is really valuable to use? What is it that we hold priceless? Our family? GOD? This was one of the contributing factors as to why me and my wife have moved to Texas, to simply and go back to basics, PUT GOD FIRST. We should understand that we are very blessed to have the basic core things needed in life, what do you really need?, but theres that word again NEED...not want. Thank for this thoughtful and provoking article and God Bless
