The 81st & 218th Judicial District Community Supervision and Corrections Department (Adult Probation) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Supervision Officer for Atascosa County. Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordination Board in Criminology, Corrections, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement/Police Science, Counseling, Pre-Law, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services Development, Public Administration, or a related field that has been approved by the Community Justice Assistance Division (CJAD), or one year of graduate study in one of the above mentioned fields, or one year experience in full-time casework, counseling, or community or group work that has been approved by CJAD. This position requires some evening and/or weekend work. Salary: Negotiable, plus regular State benefits. Closing Date: Resumes will be taken until December 30, 2014. Entertaining, at the very least. A Public Forum of intimidation, outright lies and no direct answers to a single question is the best description that I can provide.

Yes, Mr. Mayor, we all agree that we have a great community. But allow me to provide a few clarifications as well as the rest of the story for some of your comments at today's Dog and Pony Show!

You stated that the City of Floresville has not raised taxes since 1999. This is an outright lie. Yes, maybe the tax rate has remained at .3227 / $100 of appraised value but the amount of taxes charged has increased significantly since 1999 as have many of the City's fees (which are also taxes). It is the City of Floresville that has charged these taxes not the appraisal district.

A much skirted issue at this morning D&P Show was the capacity of the City's sewer plant. Oh yes, all of a sudden we are pursuing a 10 year master plan. How much is this going to cost? How is it going to be paid for? How much has been set aside, in reserves, for this sudden issue? You talk about all the things that YOU have done to improve the Quality of Life in Floresville, but what is the Quality going to be when you have to raise additional taxes to pay for the expansion of the sewer plans due to your lack of planning?

Oh yes, I did appreciate your hand out. A letter to the Wilson County News stating that you have already answered all of my questions regarding the City's Budget. However I never received a letter much less have I received a single direct answer to any question that has been presented.

And City Manager: 5.1 Million Dollars in errors in the historical numbers for FY 07/08, FY 08/09 and FY 09/10, but none of these erroneous numbers were used in planning for the current fiscal year. You stated that you and your staff developed the projections without considering the historical numbers and that they were based on local data and experience. However, no documentation supporting this "data" or "experience" was made available to the council or the public. Hmmmm... I wonder where these numbers were pulled out of????

As expected, this Dog and Pony Show did little to answer community concerns. Rather it amplified the resolve of those collecting signatures for the Recall of the Mayor and City Council. You had better set aside the money in your coffee and danish fund and get ready to pay the lawyers and PR firm more of our tax dollars because the recall is happening!!
