LET THE RECALL EFFORT FAIL!! DON’T SIGN THE PETITION!!!
Maintain the status-quo. In the words of the honorable Mayor Daniel M. Tejada our City is moving forward! So let us not stop it’s progress with questions or concerns about the actions of our elected officials.
Our City does not have a high-speed internet service that is needed to attract new business and we have no plans to acquire it.
Our City’s sewer system is near capacity and we are paying someone, finally, to develop a plan to expand it’s capacities. We have no idea how much it will cost nor do we have any idea where the money will come from.
Our City government inflates the “actual” sales tax revenues received by nearly a half a million dollars in it’s budget reports for one year and repeatedly states that these numbers are accurate. Five months later, when their own auditor states that the numbers were inaccurate our City officials are unwilling to explain their actions.
Our City officials are making plans to build a $2.4 million sports complex despite a public out cry of questions regarding it’s financing.
We have a Community or Civic or Event Center with over $7 million in debt. Such a debt that it was refinanced, at a cost of over a million dollars, to pay only interest with a balloon payment in 2014 (This is the same sub-prime financing that caused the fall of the Country’s economic power houses in the past year).
Our City receives over $250,000.00 per year in voter approved Street Maintenance Sales Tax revenue but can not tell residents when their street will be repaired. And in some cases charges homeowners for the installation of curbs.
Our City Manager is currently litigating a law suit filed by the County Attorney regarding material misstatements of revenues, expenditures, and other City funds.
Our City Council retains attorneys and hires a public relations firm to squash any questions from it’s citizens when the newspaper reports a potential recall effort is underway.
Our Maayor limits the questions of citizens at City Council Meetings and Workshops to one minute. And if the input exceeds that time or is presumed to be off topic the citizen is told to sit down. Despite these limitations our Mayor and City Manager berate it’s citizens for not participating in the budget process.
Residents, Taxpayers and Business-Owners of the City of Floresville hide in the shadows for fear of retribution by public officials should they ask a question or state an opinion that is contrary to the will of the honorable Mayor and his City Council.
Yes, this is a GREAT CITY! It IS moving forward in the right direction with the current elected and appointment officials! Let us not stop this progress with silly question and this unjustified recall petition.
