Slapping a kid in the face is not discipline. It an indication of someone, in this case the teacher, being out of control. I am not against corporal punishment, but only in extreme cases and only with parents permission and only administered by someone who is not angry! In other words, it should be used as a last resort. I know that kids can sometimes push your buttons, but losing control is not good for the teacher or the student and certainly does not set a good example on how to handle anger. I raised two sons, one of which is now a teacher. So far he has managed not to slap his students!
