Regardless of whether Mr. Borjon ran the light intentionally or by misfortune, it is a tragic loss to the family. My heart goes out to them. This incident does point out the necessity of not assuming anything while driving through a controlled or uncontrolled highway intersection. I was taught to take my foot off the accelerator and place it on the brake and check all traffic as I approach an intersection under speed, for this very reason. Just because you have a green light does not mean everyone else out there is going to do what they are supposed to do.
