"Moreover, Ahmadinejad never threatened to “wipe Israel off the face of the earth.” "

Face of the earth, map or whatever. The author is grasping at straws here and parsing words better than Bill Clinton's infamous "meaning of is" speech.

It is fairly clear that Iranian leaders have joined in the anti-zionist rhetoric calling for the annihilation of Israel. Ahmadinejad has denied the Holocaust in public speeches. He is a Jew hating, raving lunatic. You don't allow lunatics to get nuclear weapons if you can stop it, particularly if you are Jewish.

From American thinker.com:

"First, the mullahs' mouthpiece Ahmadinejad is unambiguous that the regime's goal is the destruction of both Israel and the U.S., having vowed at the "World Without Zionism" conference that "his eminency Imam Khomeini ... said that the occupation regime of Qods [Israel] must be wiped off from the map of the world, and with the help of the Almighty, we shall soon experience a world without America and Zionism, notwithstanding those who doubt."

Now, if you just want to take a chance that Iran will be a "responsible" nuclear power, and ignore all the evidence to the contrary, then just say so. But if you are wrong, the result could very well be a nuclear war.

I am much more concerned with the inevitable nuclear extortion of the West by Iran and the predictable use of dirty bombs by terrorists in the US, just to make a point.
