"THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE which has become the equivalent of HAVE A NICE DAY normally delivered with the same sincerity"

Oh contriare, mon ami. It is a shame you have become so, eh, 'grouchie' in your old age. And, a bit cynical, I might add, a luxury of intellectual indulgence well earned with those of our mature and astutely honed perspective.

Thanking one for his service may have become a bit over used, or even unnecessary, but I have yet to denote an air of insincerity from anyone who has used it. But then, I rarely if ever partake of the liberal media radio or TV, where that may not be the case.

And, now that you mention it, I can just imagine the tone with which the likes of the Leftist, America hating media would say, "Thank you for your service", a service they abhore and destest.
