Puzzled, GE makes 14.1 billion in profits and pays zero taxes. The TARP bailout which included GM/Chrysler will cost taxpayers $34 Billion. The taxpayers are picking up the tab for Freddie/Fannie losses of $16.9 Billion in 2011 alone (down from the 60 billion in 2008 and 72 billion in 2009); Medicaid costs $283 billion/year, Federal Food stamps costs $68B/year, Federal Public Housing costs $6.9B/year and then there was a $4B Federal Housing Stimulus. We give free health care to illegal immigrants (or at least when they go to the emergency rooms), but not to Veterans. So, yes the debt is out of control due to piss poor management. The answer is we go after retired military members; members of society who are productive and sacrificed so greatly for this country? They want to save $1.8B (0.3% of DOD budget) on the backs of 2.5M retired military members in medical costs for FY13. I am sure that can find $1.8B somewhere else.
