"You probably have the prevailing idiotic idea that the amounts contributed by your employer were really paid by you since they resulted in reduced wages."

Prevailing idiotic idea??? It's not idiotic to assume employers would or could increase your salary if the government didn't force them to pay it to the government, on your behalf. No, not necessarily, of course, but it certainly would be a bargaining chip if the free market was allowed to work.

Some folks like SS. Some folks also like having the government take tax money out of their checks every payday and then give some back at the end of the year. They are the idiots because they haven't got the self control to save it themselves. Their tax return is like a yearly bonus to them. Who is the idiot?
