"Grouch"...As you may recall, when the USA was formed there were restrictions to voting such as only freed men could vote (no women), a voter had to be a property owner ( believe the founding fathers believed that property owners had a whole lot more to lose than a non property owner and they were more likely to be educated and more likely to pick the best person to rule).

What's so bad about wanting voters to be educated about the election, being able to read, write, speak English so that they have means to read and understand what's going on, and to be able to prove they are legal and meet the residency qualification to vote? I think these are very, very reasonable restrictions. If 50% of the voters do not have a clue what the issues are, where the nominees stand on issues, why even have an election?...that would make any results useless.I don't think any of these restrictions would keep anyone that really wanted to vote from eventually meeting all the restrictions.

So, I suppose you want a whole lot of nitwits out there electing officials? Just look where that got us with electing Obama? How many of those people voted for Obama knew that the was a very far left leaning, radical, zealot Socialist? Just a small handful had that information or even cared. I knew he was a Socialist and what he was likely to do to America at least a year before he was elected. I'm just an average everyday type person. How could I have known that and a large percentage NOT KNOW? Glad you asked....they didn't care. they didn't know because they voted the way they did because they were extreme left leaning, birds of a feather who would vote for anyone like them, a black who would vote for anyone black, or just plain ignorant of the issues and the nominees.

As for the Constitution...yes, I believe the Constitution is about as good of a document as man can devise...but the Constitution didn't mean for the election process to be influenced by someone like Obama. Chicago-Style politics has a bad reputation for a definite reason. And, Obama is a prodigal of that system which means that he intends to get his way any way that he can regardless of being unconstitional, unethtical, or unwanted.
