Elaine, you are too good of a journalist to resort to twisting what the President said to make your point. He did not say that if we built a business, someone else built. He said if we built a business we didn't do it by ourselves...that some folks helped us along the way, which is true. My wife and I grew up dirt poor so someone gave is a National Defense loan with which to pay for our college; six years after we were degreed we finally paid off those loans. A kind old banker thought our business idea was a good one and he loaned us money to launch our business. My father in law, a wise business man himself, gave us a ton of good advice. Our stock broker talked us into investing heavily in the market in the late 80's and early 90's, and then had the wisdom to foresee the mini-crash of 2002. In 1998, he talked us into converting everything into annuities. Without his help, we would have lost everything. No, we did not accomplish what we have by ourselves; a lot of people helped us along the way. Shame on you for not printing the President's quote correctly.
