As addressed in the classic critique "Tithing to ourselves", there is a place for some introspective soul-searching about how church money is spent. However, this guy is really selling soap - global kumbaya-sit-around-the-fire global governance soap.

Typical of the Liberal mindset, he has the 'other people's money' syndrome - namely the money donated to churches. He feels that HE knows better how that money should be spent. If he feels so strongly, why is he writing columns instead of selling everything he owns and moving to India or Africa? Same goes for the Hollywood Left who sell the same soap, but live in mansions.

Perhaps I'm hard hearted, but I don't feel any obligation to drill water wells or treat AIDS in Africa. If I chose to do so, that's my choice, but its not an obligation.
The left will always try to expand their mission. I feel an obligation to my neighbor first.. they have enough problems without having to import some from overseas.

They've bankrupted America in the failed 'war on poverty' and they see expanding that mission globally as their next logical step.. using YOUR money. It is what the Carbon Credit scam is all about.

Stupid always doubles down. Stupid is dangerous.
