One thing you need to realize, Shelly, is that Politicians use religion as a means of getting support from the people.

That quote represents Abraham Lincoln's TRUE beliefs, and not those that he wore like a mask to keep favor with the christian majority of the population.

Ben Franklin was a Freemason. Think about that for a moment.

And whether you want to ignore it or not there IS an area of the brain that CAN be stimulate to produce devout religiousness. The test subjects involved were completely normal after stimulation ceased, btw. My mother was an Atheist until she experienced severe head trauma in an automobile accident. Coincidence? I think not. More like proof that there's a part of the brain that does have a massive influence on one's devoutness and that tends to favor Freud's quote.
