|It drives me crazy when people constantly bring up the crusades and witch trials to vilify Christianity as a whole. Every single religious group has had some sort of violent past. If you attack one religious belief with that sentiment you should even it out, and mention all of them. And maybe mention the fact that every horrific event were commanded from Kings, Emperors, Rulers, Generals, community leaders etc. that manipulated people to do horrific things in the name of their religion for political gain rather than for faith. As an atheist your beliefs do not make you anymore superior then the majority. Might I add the overwhelming majority of the world has the beliefs in some sort of God or Gods. In the end all their holy books present moral teachings that they live by. As an atheist where do your morals come from? By laws written by men that believe in those holy books. Most people rely on religions for hope and inspiration. Humans are humans, people will stray, people will manipulate, and they can make religion ugly, but in the end it’s not their religious books that are wrong it’s the path that the individual takes. The only thing spewing out of Atheists mouths is their hate of religion, how offensive, and ignorant it is. If you were half as smart as you think you are, you would realize you will always be a minority, and that as long as people rule the earth no matter what scientific facts you throw in their faces they will stand by their faith. Their faith might change and convert to another, but the majority will always hold religion, and atheists will always be an overwhelming minority. So be offended and tell the majority of the world they are stupid, and science has proven religion wrong, and that they are evil for past crimes. It makes absolutely no difference. Our country is based on religious freedom, not a country of none. If you are offended by Jesus in a manger in public area, look at the other side, and you will find it to be offensive that it is not there. I find it laughable that the UAE will celebrate Christian and Muslim holidays publicly, and in our country there are tools like you that try to eradicate it completely. You may not believe in religion, but it is absolutely what shaped us as Americans. It is a part of our heritage, it is a part of history.
