Elaine,
The debate is not for the 43% who have decided and cannot change their mind for Obama or the 42% who will vote for Romney no matter what. 42 +43 = 85. So, the debate is for the last 15% who can be swayed. Until the truth about Obama's record gets out, Obama has the advantage due to incumbency and Romney has not been able to distance himself from Bush. Bush being an argument is just crazy but when you have a terrible record what else can you do. So, we concede Bush made mistakes including in 8 years, Bush increased the debt by 4.9T which is why he is not a conservative and why we need a Romney/Ryan Conservative team.
Short Recap of Obama Record:
- National debt went from 10.6T to 16T (increase $5.4T) under Obama in less than 4 years.
- Record of 43 months of unemployment over 8%, the longest since the Great Depression.
- If Mr. Obama wins re-election, and his budget projections if proven accurate projects the National Debt will top $20 trillion in 2016, the final year of his second term.
- Since Obama stepped into office, 7.5 million people have left the workforce
- Three (3) million more in poverty in 2011 than in 2009, an increase of 6%.
- An 8.2% decrease in Household Incomes under Obama
- The number of people on food stamps is up more than 220,000 in the first half of this year and up almost 12 million -- or 34% -- from June 2009 to June 2012.
- The share of payroll employees ages 18 to 64 working in low-wage jobs (under $12/hour) rose from 23.8 percent to 31.2 percent last year. That’s a more than a 30 percent rise in the proportion of such workers.
- Obama refuses to enforce Federal law – See immigration and fast and furious, etc.
- Obama's Promise of Government Transparency Is a Farce
–See not releasing records on numerous topics and is well-documented if someone looks.
- Obama’s foreign policies are a shame. More people in more countries dislike us than when Bush was President. Ambassador killed on 9/11. Facts surrounding it appear to indicate complete leadership failure. Excuse – Blame it on intelligence community. Obama blame game.
- According to Obama in his own book, he ate dog, but criticizes Mitt Romney for his dog incident decades ago.
- Obama closed GITMO – Still waiting.
- Obama himself said, “…that after three years, if the economy wasn’t fixed he should be a one-term president.” -- The ONE thing I agree with Obama.
