You are right I am no expert. But it is true that in the spring and winter when West Texas wind blows hard -- and the fuel is free -- the large coal plants can't justify the cost of burning all that coal. They can't compete on price with the wind or natural gas. It is only economical in the summer when prices go up and demand is high (and wind capacity goes way down). So not hot air, but blown air. That is why Luminant is not going to run Monticello
