squawk box Pandora, Tx December 18, 2012 4:51pm	Alvin......absolutely correct.....Cut benefits across the board at least 10 percent and consider a even larger cut for those of us who have been on social security longer than 15 years. We paid a lot less than the people just entering the Social Security benefits population. Those that retired in 1980 took less than three years to recoup their investment with a gradual increase in recoup time for those who retired later. Concerning the disability benefits, the requirements have been diluted enough to allow many people to game the system. The disability trust fund is due to exhaust itself by year 2016. By law, the disability trust fund can only pay out what is collected in taxes so benefits will be reduced by an estimated 25 percent or taxes will have to be increased. Anyone betting a the benefit reduction ? I noticed that the Senator did not address this issue which will be on us in a little over three years.
