The Right To Bear Arms ... 2nd Amendment

"A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED." (All caps are my emphasis)

This was a states' rights issue to the founders. The amendment was specifically put in to prohibit the national government from limiting ther rights to bear and carry weapons. In other words, it prohibited the federal government (Congress) from ever disarming an individual state citizenry. They could never infringe on any state's right to chooses whether or not to keep and bear arms.

Look up the word 'infringe'. Simply put, the feds could never touch, adjust, or override an individual state's right on this issue.

Simply put, the feds could never take over the states as a means of setting up a tyrranical or dicatorial form of government for the entire nation.
