The guy is a retired intel dude, not a pilot or weapons warfare qualified expert. Yes, they did look at F-16s but without tanker support they can not make the trip. And OBTW, drop bombs on what? Who would have directed them? Ever heard of "blue on blue"? What would the press say if our own F-16s had bombed the Embassy staff by mistake. Sure we did something, but sorry. Talk about dereliction of duty! A DoD response was just not possible...get over it.
