Prairie: Outstanding, you are starting to see the fog of war. As far as combat controllers, what is needed is a joint terminal attack controller (JTAC) to direct the bombing from the F-16s. These guys, like the combat controllers, are high demand resources and they have limited manning to fill all the taskings worldwide. U.S. Africa Command lacks the assigned forces to do anything about incidents in Benghazi or other areas in Africa. To make matters worst the Commander of U.S. Africa Command has to ask the Commander of U.S. Europe to use his units (Italy F-16s) and the refueling tankers are under the Operational Command of a Major Command here in the U.S. This is the fog of conducting operations in Africa. Shame on Dr. Earl Tilford for leading his readers down this road without providing all the facts.
