Just because outsiders come in, doesn't make it a bad deal. Most of your teachers at FISD are outsiders! Although there seems to be some old teachers there as well. Talking with friends of mine from Floresville, it is the good-old-boy system in full effect! Just as your board member said prior to his election. So because local people were not hired, it is corrupt? Um... contrary to the beliefs it is the local people that corrupt things, they are in it for themselves, their children, and their friends.
On the FISD webpage under the Board of Trustees is a Code of Ethics. You can pinpoint all the ones that are broken by this board alone. Some examples:
1. "I will not disclose information that is confidential by law or that will needlessly harm the District if disclosed." The two board members that called Mr. Sawers to report what the Super sent them in an email. Solution: They should of "I will refuse to surrender judgment to any individual or group at the expense of the District as a whole" and called all other board members and asked for a special meeting and discussed it instead of stirring the pot. This would of been an easy fix, but instead these two board members acted out of integrity and spite and told Mr. Sawers instead and cause more harm to the district.
2. "I will be accountable to the public by representing District policies, programs, priorities, and progress accurately." President Mr. Bippert, this clearly was not the case when you were thrown out of a school related baseball game for heckling the umpire. Not to mention it is known you have been thrown out of little league games as well.
3. "I will make no personal promise or take private action that may compromise my performance or my responsibilities." This needs to be evaluated by ALL board members as word on the street is there have been many promises made to friends of spouses that are board members.
4. "I will respect the majority decision as the decision of the Board." ALL board members need to fess up and tell the public "I will work to ensure prudent and accountable use of District resources" that they were the ones that gave the Super a raise and not the employees. The Super cannot give himself a raise. Not to forget, you are the ones that approve all contracts for employment, so you all did approve the contract for the transportation manager knowing who he was. Also knew of the buying of the buses from said manager.
5. "I will seek continuing education that will enhance my ability to fulfill my duties effectively" this needs to be proven someway. Not just TASB stuff but outside sources. Did anyone take a look at C-Scope before it was bought with resources? "I will work to ensure prudent and accountable use of District resources" The cries of the staff have fallen on deaf ears.
6. "I will work to ensure prudent and accountable use of District resources" hiring of qualified individuals for the open positions. No matter where they are from, if they are QUALIFIED they should be afforded the opportunity of the interview. No need to follow the good-old-boy system. (i.e. HR Director, Elementary principal, Counselors, Spec. Ed director, the demotion of MANY support assignments).
7. "I will base my decisions on fact rather than supposition, opinion, or public favor" STOP looking out for friends and start doing what is right for the students! "I will be continuously guided by what is best for all students of the District." ALL STUDENTS (not just the privileged ones!)

Everyone needs to be reminded that not everyone is innocent. There are many instances that were swept under the rug by many people (i.e. stealing from social work office by an HR secretary, relationships between coaches and students, preferences to certain directors for things...)

It is time for this school board to take a stone look at themselves before pointing fingers at others or stirring the pot. It only makes you look bad and the public has spoken in regards to the City Council there, do NOT think it cannot happen to the board! No matter who you are or who your family is!
