Mr. Rethaber needs to be very careful with what he says because his wife is a teacher at this school district, so what he says WILL reflect on her and will be taken into consideration in many things. They don't necessarily run with the right crowd of administrators and board members. I, however, applaud him for speaking out and saying that there is a need for change. There has to be change. FISD will not be any better than the "good ole boy system" that it is currently running under.
The funny thing is everyone things that the super was the cause of the mass exodus of "good people" but what everyone doesn't understand is some left because they were not getting their way to do things. I could name two directors from central office that left because they were not getting their way and one in particular since her husband was a board member. Mrs. Angle left because she wasn't afford the opportunity to an interview that she was promised, well that is the way of the world sometimes. Mrs. Angle was hired when her father-in-law was a board member and groomed for the job. Why would we want someone that is set in the ways and not acceptable to change in a high position. Hence, she left. She was NOT acceptable to change. Mr. Barber and his wife (Central Office administrator) retired and moved on with their lives. People here that are set in the boys system do not want to see change happen. Look what happened with Dr. Vinson when he got here and wanted to change and do things, it took him whooing "uppercrest" of the good le boy system before anything could change.
