I agree, we need to take care of our deputies and jailers, but to just give everyone across the board a 5% raise is crazy. The commissioners haven't done squat for our county roads because they always say there is no money. The thing that irritates me is that none of these folks know how to plan and prioritize. They make decisions based on the now, not based on a 10 year planning model. If they were planning, the courthouse never would have gotten into the shape its in now. They aren't doing anything the citizens want, but can surely give themselves raises. The deputies need to be paid based on years, certificates, continuing education and fitness. Have you seen some of these guys on the streets? I respect them for what they do day in and out, but don't believe, some of them could ever chase a criminal down
