I have farmed and ranched over 50 years. The last few years have been excellent the ethanol program has bolstered commodity prices and the people who know what they are doing are doing well. Most hobby farmers are not educated enough about the business to make a profit farming they rely on their city jobs to finance their hobby. Why should the government subsidize their hobbies? Why should their land taxes qualify for the ag exemption taxpayers should stop subsidizing people's hobbies!
