I would say you're wrong about a for-profit degree. I know several students that have failed out of these programs and these programs are held to the same accreditation standards as non-profit universities. I'm not standing up for the city manager but simply providing that there are valuable for-profit options out there for those seeking an advanced education that fits into a busy work-life. Even schools such as Harvard are offering online programs. The education model is changing and I don't see anything wrong with her degree program. The key is can she use the knowledge that she gained effectively in the position that she is now in for the city of Floresville? That is yet to be seen.
