New Guy.....For almost two hundred years, this country
survived without MEDICARE. Both of my parents and one
sibling died without MEDICARE. I, two sibling along with with two remaining siblings died or will die with it. It has been government intrusion that has caused medical costs to rise. The wage and price freeze during WW II led to employer fringe benefits such as(Health insurance) to compete for labor. These fringe benefits became commonplace resulting in increased usage of medical facilities along with rising cost. Twenty years later MEDICARE was enacted and the rate of rise increased. Wide spread fraud contributed to even more cost.
The ACA is just one more wealth distribution scheme
which forces the young and healthy citizen to purchase
a product they don't want or need in the majority of
cases. A person has a choice to lead or not to lead
a healthy lifestyles. To expect someone else to pick
up the cost for your bad decisions is just plain wrong.
I also think that MEDICARE needs to be phased out
and that Social should be privatized. These actions
are necessary to provide a reasonable chance that
future generations will not suffer a financial disaster.
