Lois, This was a nice read ... I don't remember house dances, but I certainly remember the days when the "whole family" went to the dances and the little ones would falls asleep on a pallet or blanket beneath the tables or benches. And we didn't have to worry about the other kids
playing outside. Oh sure. We learned a few things out in the dark, but ya had to learn them somewhere! LOL. It was harmless fun. ... How unimaginable it would be today to allow kids to play freely and out of our sight of their parents at such a public event! Kids all learned to dance by watching their parents AND GRANDPARENTS dancing, and by taking turns dancing with each other. ... Those were the days, for sure. Thanks for the memories, Lois!
