Unemployment has been an accepted way of life for a long time. While one has to accept that people should be paid so that they can live while they are unemployed. The fact that they are unemployed is not acceptable. Countries have lost many jobs to China and India because it is cheaper and those economies are getting stronger because they have more workers in employment. America and others economies are getting weaker because they are losing jobs. Politicians have not yet realised that it is spending power generated in the economy that is important rather than GDP. Politicians are responsible for ensuring that people are employed. The Centreline System of government recognises that the major taxpayer in the economy is the consumer when he buys his goods and services and Income Tax and others just add to business expenses and make the country uncompetitive. It is past time that the full implications of the tax systems in use were recognised and the advantages that can be gained by changing to a VAT based system that ensures that imported goods share in the tax burden. See Its All I The Price by Peter William Bailey at
A new article by Peter Bailey shows how the economy actually works and why it requires that people work for a living. Countries cannot afford to have long term unemployment and it is up to governments to see that it does not happen.
