The Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative (GVEC) has sent this notice:
... the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), the statewide operator of the electric grid in Texas responsible for the flow of electric power to 23 million customers, issued a public request for all electric consumers to reduce electric use ... through noon on Friday, February 7. The request is due to the cold weather that began last night which brought close to record demand for electricity this morning. Some generation capacity has become unavailable due to limitation to natural gas supplies. It is important that consumers conserve as much as possible during these extreme weather conditions.
