Clearly you're omitting bits of history, good sir. Hitler also invoked god and jesus in his speeches and believed himself to be doing god's will. As for the USSR, it's not like Stalin hadn't done anything the christian church hadn't done in the past. I'm sure you've heard of the Spanish Inquisition. Religion still isn't a good starting point for determining what's right or wrong. Basic primitive instinct does that. One does what's good for the tribe and it's survival. The only difference between prehistoric man and modern man is that the tribe and its village is much, much larger. Giving alms to the poor? Clearly the welfare system hasn't worked. Atheists make up less than 1% of the prison population. Over 95% of the prison population is christian, and the majority of that figure were christian before they got thrown in. The rest are various other religions. Being a deist doesn't make one a christian outright, and the supreme being of a deist doesn't interfere with the affairs of the universe, so the fact that the founding fathers were deist is almost moot, since they still weren't christian and that was my entire point about them to begin with. Christians have a higher percentage of divorces than Atheists or Agnostics, which I find to be yet another blow to the bible since it says in a few places that a union between two people that includes god is stronger than those without one.

I suggest you read Richard Dawkins' "The God Delusion." Most assuredly he is one of the greatest intellectuals mankind has ever produced. The discoveries made my Astronomers and Biologists as well as Anthropologists and Paleontologists disprove quite a bit of the bible, especially a lot of what it has to say about earth and it's position in the universe. As a scientist, sir, are you going to honestly tell me that every species in existence lived within walking distance of Noah's house? Nobody could build a vessel large enough to hold billions and billions of species, even if it were two pair. And even so, after the water dried up Noah sacrificed all the "clean" animals to god. The bible says that bats are birds and that unicorns, satyrs, and cockatrices exist. Do you honestly believe in these things that we know don't exist?

You either take then entire bible as fact or none of it can be true. Since plenty of it is clearly not true, none of it can be. Enjoy your delusion, good sir. I'm not indoctrinated. One can not indoctrinate themselves. Not to mention that in the scientific method, ideas that lack enough supporting evidence or have evidence that is outweighed by contradictory evidence are discarded. Religion is one of the ideas that should have been discarded long ago.
