Boom nothing. You give yourself way too much credit. Did you even read what I posted from the Book of the Dead? It's obvious to the most casual observer that they are not the same. The 10 Commandments say nothing about taking milk from a child, quenching fire, driving cows from herbage, damming water.

And you do tell half-truths. But hey, it's not your fault because you are only repeating your heros. They've only told YOU half the truth. Danny...do your homework. Yes Mithrism existed before Christ, in Persia. BUT the doctrine that has some similarities to Christianity developed in Rome AFTERWARDS, late in the second century. LOGIC.

You just provided direct proof of your propensity to echo falsehoods and half-truths when you quoted Justin Martyr. Sorry to make you look foolish again but if you had checked yourself, you would have seen that your atheist source not only misquoted Martyr, but he took the comments out of context. Martyr was writing to the Roman emperor in defense of the faith. Here is his actual words:
"Look at What You Give Credence to
We say the Word, the first birth of God, was produced without sexual union. We say that He, Jesus Christ, our teacher, was crucified, died, rose again and ascended into heaven. We are propounding nothing different from what you believe regarding those that you esteem to be sons of Jupiter. You know how many sons your esteemed writers ascribed to Jupiter." If you read the entire text of Martyr's letter you would see that he is trying to gain the emperor's acceptance of Christianity by drawing parallels to their faith. Not a comparison I would make, but then I didn't live in those times.

Do I even have to discuss why some books are in the bible and others are not? It's really not too hard for an educated person to see. Try this...imagine yourself in that time at the beginning of Christianity. Many people were writing their accounts. Some perhaps out of ignorance of some facts, others perhaps to deceive. You could have been one of these guys writing what you heard and passing it along. Paul mentioned in his letters that some teachings were going astray. What was accepted was what the early Christian leaders deemed accurate (or divinely inspired as some believe). What was not included was not. Simple.

I honestly have to laugh at some of the stuff you write. You make all these easily refuted assertions then counter with "I don't want to hear" this or that. Who says you get to set the debate rules? And spare us your smugness, it is really undeserved and makes you look even sillier. But I guess humility would not be a trait advocated by the atheist movement.
