Isn't it obvious that scientific progress would be one of the continuing forefront goals of the Venus Project? That takes care of that issue.
The Inquisition was more about controlling the people than actual belief in a religious doctrine. The royal family saw that Catholicism was a strong, powerful religion, and decided to use that as a force to unite the people. What I'm doing is nothing at all like the Inquisition, because the means of achieving the end is completely different and non-violent.

All of those traits you mentioned like Pride and Jealousy are primarily learned traits. What would there be to be jealous of if everything was evenly distributed?

As for politics, all that would be needed is a skeletal government with extremely limited power, which would exclude even the power to write up new laws. That would be the responsibility of the people.

I'll give you that a completely non-violent society would be truly impossible. However, it would be completely possible to abolish full-scale wars, leaving small skirmishes between a few individuals.

As far as how I would control the population, I have a few things in mind. Firstly, a limit on the amount of children people can have. One or two, max.
Secondly, requirements that would need to be met in order to be able to have offspring, such as Maturity, Intelligence, and tests for things such as tendency to be an abusive or neglecting parent. Use of contraceptives would be Mandatory.

I don't honestly see how removing religion would make for a hive-minded society. Quite the contrary, as nobody would have thoughts influenced by religious doctrine (Which makes for a hive mind more than anything else).

Most of the flaws you list are problems that plague the current system anyways. They would be mostyly eliminated in the Venus Project System.
