Cheryl Sue Lynnette Donaho Dodd of Palacios, Texas, went to be with her Savior and Lord on Saturday, May 20, 2023. Cheryl was born July 7, 1952, in Seguin.
She graduated from Floresville High School in 1970. Cheryl met Wayne A. Dodd, the love of her life, at age 15, and they married at age 21 in 1973.
Cheryl was a pillar of every community she lived in and was the embodiment of a servant’s heart. She put care into action — a woman of unshakable faith in God and prayer — she supported everyone she could in any capacity needed. She paused her education to raise her family, but proudly graduated with a BA in health administration at age 59.
Cheryl’s generous efforts and entrepreneurial spirit impacted her community, especially in Palacios. If it weren’t for Cheryl, we may not have the Friends of Elder Citizens Senior Center, Meals on Wheels, R-Transit, Food Pantry, The Outrigger, the Palacios Museum, and most recently, The Montgomery Home, said her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gus and Adele Donaho; and sister Jeanine Richardson.
Cheryl is survived by her best friend and loving husband, Wayne; her three children, Candyce (Tim) Slusher, Jonathan (Joann) Dodd, and Kelly (Kevin) Davis; her precious grandchildren, that were the light of her life, Jacob, Isaiah, Jayla, Oran, Keira, Kenly, Nicholas, Ti’Shaun, and Kevin; her beloved sister, Marilyn Mills; brother Ralph Wayne Donaho; 15 nieces and nephews; and countless friends round out an enormous extended family.
A Celebration of Cheryl’s beautiful life will be held on Saturday, May 27, at 2 p.m. in the Agape Family Outreach Church in Palacios.
Memorial donations may be made to The Montgomery Home at livingtmh.org.
