The historic Dewees-Remschel House was the setting for the final Floresville Musical Club 2022-23 meeting. As members and guests arrived and were seated in the elegant parlor and spacious dining room, they were greeted with piano melodies by Musical Club member Bonnie Byrne, whose romantic renditions included “Unchained Melody,” “Tea for Two,” and “The Gift of Love,” to name a few.

Featured on the program was the group River City Winds from San Antonio, who entertained the Musical Club with their classical music. The three performers were Katie Martz playing the bassoon, Tyler Guzman playing the clarinet, and Melvina Medley Turner on the flute. Their skillful performance of “Divertimento in B-flat, K. Anh. 229, No. 3” by W.A. Mozart (1756-91) and several other classical selections made a remarkable impression on attendees.

Hostesses for the “Tea at the Dewees-Remschel House” were Judy Whitley, Bonnie Byrne, Sarah Gella, Sylvia Madero, and Peggy Tipton. For this special occasion, the hostesses selected an assortment of delicate china salad plates in floral patterns and crystal tea cups. To accompany the “tea party” theme, ceramic tea pots centered on each table added to the décor. The sherbet lime and pineapple punch was a favorite as well as the mini quiche tarts and dainty flowery-capped cupcakes.
