Floresville City Council changes hands

Outgoing Floresville city Councilman Gloria Cantu accepts a plaque May 11 from city council members Marissa Ximenez (l-r) and Terry Rolland, Mayor Cissy Gonzalez-Dippel, Councilman Eduardo Villarreal, and City Manager Andy Joslin, who presented Cantu with a bouquet on behalf of the city staff. The plaque honors Cantu for her service as a council member since 2016. She also was elected twice as mayor pro tem by fellow council members.

Wilson County Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace Jared Shaw administers the oath of office May 11 to Beatrice Ximenez-Marroquin and Donald Scee as Floresville City Council members. Both Ximenez- Marroquin and Scee received the majority of votes cast in their respective two-way races in the city’s May 6 election. (See related post-election news in the Meeting Watch on page 9A.)
