(This article has been updated with new information) – The Wilson County Grand Jury met April 16 and returned indictments in 17 cases. The following 13 individuals are among the defendants scheduled for arraignment May 18:

Justin Squires Benton, 34, of Floresville was indicted on a charge of assault of a family or household member by impeding breath or circulation, by allegedly applying pressure to the throat or neck or blocking the nose or mouth of a woman with whom he had a dating relationship in January 2021.

Corina Jeanette Engelke, 40, of La Vernia was indicted on a charge of driving while intoxicated the third or more times, after allegedly operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated in January 2021. She was previously convicted in August 2014 and March 2020 for the same offense.

Steven Garrett Holland, 28, of St. Hedwig was indicted on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, after allegedly possessing a firearm in March 2021, before the fifth anniversary of his release from mandatory supervision following a July 2019 conviction for possession of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1.

•Gary Lane Lanford, 43, of Poth was indicted on charges of two counts of theft of property worth between $2,500 and $30,000, after allegedly stealing a barbecue pit from outside a grocery store in Floresville in February 2021.

Joseph A. McIntosh, 32, of Kingsbury was indicted on a charge of improper relationship between an educator and a student, and indecency with a child by sexual contact, after allegedly having sexual contact with a child younger than 17 at the time, while he was a teacher-coach at La Vernia Junior High School in December 2019.

Reynaldo Mejia, 36, of San Antonio was indicted on a charge of burglary of a building, after allegedly entering a building without the owner’s consent and attempting to steal cartons of cigarettes.

Christopher Quintanilla, 32, of Floresville was indicted on a charge of assault of a family member by impeding breath or circulation, after allegedly applying pressure to the throat or neck or block the nose or mouth of a woman with whom he had a dating relationship in December 2020.

Leonard R. Ramirez, 19, of Floresville was indicted on a charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle, after allegedly taking his cousin’s 2010 Ford Focus from the 100 block of Natchez Street in Poth in February 2020 without the owner’s consent and crashing it.

Brandon Lee Brill, 19, of Pleasanton was indicted on a charge of aggravated assault with a weapon against a family member, household member, or a current or past dating partner, after allegedly pointing a pistol at a woman with whom he had a dating relationship.

JoAustin Fred Garza, 23, of Floresville was indicted on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. He allegedly shot at a man in Floresville in September 2020 with a firearm that he possessed before the fifth anniversary of his release from confinement following his conviction for aggravated assault in October 2017.

Cleofas Castillo Jr., 36, of Poth was indicted on a charge of burglary of a building, after allegedly entering a building in August 2020 with the intention of committing theft.

Bradley Paul Sweeney, 36, of Floresville indicted on a charge of manufacture or delivery of between 1 and 4 grams of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1, after attempting to sell the substance in September 2020.

Land Davis Rutledge, 26, of Floresville was indicted on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, after allegedly operating a vehicle in November 2020 without the owner’s consent.
