Irene Maldonado
On Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2023, Irene Maldonado, loving wife, and mother of three daughters and grandmother of four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, passed away at age 82, in Austin, Texas. Irene was born Feb. 28, 1941, in Wilson County to Jose and Herminia Andrada.
She grew up on a farm, where she ran fast and jumped high. Irene married Luis Maldonado on Sept. 29, 1962. She had various jobs that were community driven. She never met a stranger and was always ready to offer a helping hand. Irene had a love for baking, cooking, nature, and gardening. She loved her family fiercely and she delighted in spending time with her loved ones and friends. Irene was known for her love of Christ and sharing the Gospel, her laughter, joy, and whistling, and her kind and compassionate spirit.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Luis Maldonado; parents Jose and Herminia Andrada; sisters Teresa Ramirez and Susie J. Perez; and brother Raymond Andrada.
Irene is survived by her three daughters, Melinda and husband Erich, Lori, and Lisa; her grandchildren, Meghan and husband Brandon, Gabrielle, Victoria and husband Deandre, and Erich Luis; her great-grandchildren; brothers Joe and Basillio “B”; and extended family.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 16, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.
A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
