Lack of rain stunts spring wildflowers

Q. What is the problem with my wildflowers this spring? The bluebonnets and larkspur are not very numerous and all the plants that do exist are spindly.

A. I believe the problem is the lack of rain. If it is not possible to provide some irrigation, you will just have to put up with slim pickings. If even a few plants bloom and drop seed, the lusher plantings may return next year if it rains...
