Fast-moving grass fires are threatening structures — including homes — north/northwest of Floresville.

Firefighters with several departments are battling two separate, large, rapidly spreading grass fires on F.M. 2579 and F.M. 1303.

The F.M. 1303 blaze is near the Wilson/Bexar county line. First responders are evacuating some residents in the area.

Some residents in the vicinity of the fire at F.M. 2579 and Hidden Ranch Court also are being asked to evacuate. About 30 acres are involved in that situation.

Personnel and equipment from Wilson County emergency services districts (ESDs) 5, 2, and 1, as well as Bexar County ESDs 10 and 12 are working to contain the blazes, which are being fanned by winds of approximately 18 mph.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to monitor conditions and be prepared to evacuate if necessary.
