The Nixon-Smiley High School Mustang varsity basketball team fell to the Randolph Rohawks Feb. 8, 56-38.
The Mustangs battled but came up short Feb. 8. At the half, the difference in the game was a minuscule 5 points; however, the Mustangs could not stop the Rohawks’ lategame run, finishing the fourth quarter with a score of 38-56.
The Mustangs were led by Dustin Mejia with 12 points, Carl White Jr. with 7, Ruben Bomer with 5, Braxton Regalado and Bradyn Martinez each with 4, Kade Dixon with 3, Luke Moses with 2, and Holden Canion with 1.
The Mustangs took a tough loss on Feb. 11 at the hands of the Stockdale Brahmas. The Mustangs battled and worked hard, but it was not enough to match the play of their neighbors down the road from Stockdale.
The final score of the Mustang’s last home game of the year was 59-26.
The Mustangs were led by Braxton Regalado with 11 points, Carl White Jr., Holden Canion, and Bradyn Martinez all finishing with 4, Dustin Mejia with 2, and Jeremiah Munoz with 1.
The Mustangs concluded their District season on Feb. 15 at Cole High School.
