Nixon-Smiley track teams compete

The Nixon-Smiley High School track teams have been competing against some well-established track programs throughout March.

Panther Relays in Navarro, March 3: Nixon- Smiley competed against some very talented, wellestablished track programs (Wimberley, La Vernia, Navarro, Marion, Randolph, and Gonzales) and finished with some fast runs, long jumps, far throws and nice medal hardware.

Falls City Relays, March 10: The junior varsity girls team finished second overall out of nine teams.

Karnes City Relays, March 26: The junior varsity boys team finished third, varsity boys team finished fifth, junior varsity girls team and varsity girls team both finished sixth overall out of nine teams.

Mustang Relays in Nixon-Smiley, March 31: 11 track programs competed. Luke Moses placed second in 300-meter hurdles for varsity boys with a time of 45.00. Hailee Houseton placed fifth in 100-meter dash with a time of 13.31. She also placed fourth in triple jump at 30 feet and 6-1/2 inches.
