Onufry John Moy Jr.

Onufry John Moy Jr. entered peacefully into the Lord’s loving arms on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the age of 88. Onufry was born May 6, 1934, to Clara (Sczech) and Onufry Moy Sr. in Kosciusko, Texas.

Onufry married Loraine Gawlik on Aug. 25, 1962. They were married 60 years. Onufry retired from Frito-Lay Inc. after 34 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and family gatherings at the Moy family farm in Kosciusko. He also enjoyed visiting with friends at Pruski’s Station for a game of pitch or dominoes and, of course, a cold beer!

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Virgie Lyssy; brothers Harry Moy Sr., Alfred Moy Sr., and Daniel Moy Sr.; brothers-in-law Clem Lyssy, Hubert Cansler Sr., Jim Wagoner, and John Kiser; and sister-in-law Lenoir Moy.

Onufry is survived by his loving wife, Loraine Gawlik Moy; children Cheryl McMahan and husband Ron, Janet Moy, and Lori Aguilar and husband Eddie; grandchildren Brandon Swientek, Travis Swientek, Courtney Kellner, Mackenzie Kozak, and Jessica Trevino; sisters Lorene Cansler and Ella Mae Kiser; and sisters-in-law Bernice Moy and Joyce Moy.

The family would like to express appreciation for the outstanding, compassionate care provided by Poet’s Walk Memory Care Community.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 27, from 5:30- 8 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m., in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Kosciusko, with Father Pius Ezeigbo to officiate.

Interment will follow in the St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery in Kosciusko.
