Someone broke into the Pandora U.S. Post Office, but it’s unclear whether any mail was removed from post office boxes.
The burglary reportedly occurred between closing time Sept. 2 and opening time Sept. 5.
“They forced entry into the rear office area and took three packages and went through the drawers and office,” Wilson County Chief Deputy Clint Garza told the Wilson County News. “At the time of the report, the post office was unsure if any mail was taken from the mailboxes.”
An investigation by a U.S. Postal Service inspector is still underway, according to a Pandora Post Office employee, but a call to the investigator was not returned by press time Sept. 18.
Although the post office, located at 8547 F.M. 1107, is open for “retail” services only from 8-10 a.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays, the lobby — where the boxes are — is normally open 24 hours a day. However, subsequent to the burglary, the lobby has been temporarily closed when no postal employees are at the site.
