Get ready for more roadwork on U.S. 87 in and near La Vernia.

According to Wilson County Pct. 3 Commissioner Ernest “Skip” Hajek, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will begin final repairs on the highway Monday, June 24, and continue for two to three weeks, weather permitting.

Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Hajek told the Wilson County News.

Work will affect a single direction of traffic at a time and include:

•First, in front of St. Ann Catholic Church, near the U.S. 87/F.M. 1346 intersection, for 600 feet east or south toward F.M. 775

•Next, a section in front of Koepp Chevrolet for 400 feet

•Then, repairs will start near the Circle K and out toward Sutherland Springs.

The repairs within the La Vernia city limits will be completed before July 3, according to TxDOT.

Construction on the other work will be suspended July 4-5, resuming afterward.

Area residents should prepare for the planned repairs and plan travel accordingly.
