The Seguin Police Department has captured murder suspect, Draven Rene Reyes, 20, of Seguin.

On April 12, at approximately 11:20 a.m. the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force apprehended Reyes on the East Side of San Antonio for an active arrest warrant out of Seguin for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and murder. Reyes was transported to Guadalupe County Jail on a $2,000,000 bond.

Reyes was wanted in connection with the April 4 shooting of two teens in the 600 block of N. Vaughan Avenue. Maekalyn Ann Marie Smith, 18, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Detectives discovered Reyes, Christanio Soto, and Sahra Vega — both 21 and of Seguin — had driven by the park and Reyes fired multiple rounds at Smith and a male as they sat near the basketball court at Park West.

Vega and Soto were taken into custody April 6.

The investigation continues and more arrests are anticipated.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents is encouraged to call the Seguin Police Department at 830-379-2123. Callers can also anonymously contact the Guadalupe County Crime Stoppers at 877-403-8477 (TIPS).
