Severe thunderstorm watch for South Central Texas, including Wilson County

Sizable hail, along with strong winds and lightning, are possible Thursday afternoon and evening, June 8, as severe thunderstorms move through South Central Texas.

The National Weather Service-Austin/San Antonio has issued a severe thunderstorm watch today until 7 p.m. for much of South Central Texas, including the Hill Country, the I-35 Corridor, and Coastal Plains.

Hail up to tennis ball size will be possible in the strongest storms, as well as wind gusts up to 65 mph, as thunderstorms move through the area.

Severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and early evening. Damaging winds in excess of 60 mph and hail greater than quarter size will be the main hazards in any thunderstorms. Locally heavy downpours also are possible.
