Sidney Edward Harllee of Floresville, Texas, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at the age of 75. Born in San Antonio on Sept. 23, 1947, he was the son of C.C. “Pete” Harllee Sr. and Rica Regina Saathoff Harllee.
He married Teddi Heinen Casper on Aug. 18, 1972.
Raised in San Antonio, he lived in Wilson County for the past 25 years. He worked with his father in the livestock industry beginning at a very early age, continuing in the industry through the last days of his life. He worked out of the Union Stock Yards in San Antonio most of those years. He and his partner, Jody Ringelstein, owned Country Boy’s Meat Market on South Flores in San Antonio for more than 32 years from 1980 to 2011. This partnership was one-of-a-kind in that it was totally based on a handshake, and was still intact when Sid passed.
Sid was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Margie Heinen; and his brother-in-law, Alton C. Thompson.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Teddi Linda Harllee; his daughter, Melinda Harllee-Bell (Trey); his stepdaughter, Crisene D. Casper; his brother, C.C. Harllee Jr. (Dee Ann); his sisters, Rica M. Sifuentes (John), Kathrin Thompson, and Penney Fay Berger (Ed); nieces and nephews A.C. Thompson (Angela), Justin Sifuentes (Michelle), Mary Thompson, Erica Sifuentes, Wesley Harllee, Abigail Thompson, Houston Berger, and Cody Harllee; great-nephew and great-nieces; and many old and close friends who will miss his wisdom and great stories.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 28, at 1 p.m. in the Wilson County Expo and Community Center, formerly the Show Barn, in Floresville.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Wilson County Expo and Community Center, officiated by the Rev. Chris Kennedy of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in San Antonio.
Memorial donations may be made in honor of Sidney to a charity of one’s choice.
