Attorney Eddy Perez with Walsh Gallegos Treviño Russo & Kyle P.C. outlines the specifics of a Chapter 313 Agreement for members of the Stockdale Independent School District board of trustees during a July 26 public hearing and special meeting.

A solar farm project in the Stockdale area will benefit from a tax concession from the Stockdale Independent School District.

Members of the public in attendance overwhelmingly opposed the proposal at a July 26 public hearing and special meeting. The school board, however, unanimously approved a Chapter 313 agreement with energy company 247CT 8me LLC, also known as 8minute Solar Energy. This will create a tax reinvestment zone for a solar energy installation of more than 1,300 acres in the Stockdale ISD, meaning the company will pay lower property taxes on the land. Nixon-Smiley Consolidated ISD, in neighboring Gonzales County, has a similar agreement with the company.
