After 25 years, the Floresville High School Tiger baseball team made it to the Regional Quarterfinals to compete against Robstown in a three-game series May 18, 19, and 20. In game one on Thursday, May 18, Nader Gulamhusein (4) and Rene Vasquez (9) pitched a 10-inning game. The Tigers played a great defense, but ultimately lost, 0-1.

On Friday, Floresville flooded the stands to support their Tigers, and Bryan Cardenas (10) pitched a complete shutout for Floresville. Ian Rivera (1) stole home base for the Tigers’ only run in game two, for the win. The Tigers beat the Cottonpickers 1-0, tying up the series, 1-1.

In the final game of play on Friday, the Tigers’ Luke Cardenas (8) took the mound to pitch 7 innings. The Tigers fought a hard defense in all 7 innings, but fell short 0-3 to the Cottonpickers.

The Tigers defied their non-local critics by going beyond their expectations, making Floresville proud of their honorable hardworking play.

The Tigers honored their three outgoing seniors at the end of the game as Rivera, Hector Garcia IV (13), and Gavin LaFleur (14) took off their cleats for the final time.
